For some reason, I can't install any gadgets. I always get an error that says "Unspecified error"

If I right click the gadget and open with Windows Desktop Gadgets, nothing happens. Can you install gadgets in 7?

I'm running the 64 bit version of the beta, if that would mess anything up.

Haven't tried, but the Dekstop Gadget Gallery link in the programs menu on my 32 bit copy of Win 7 Beta doesn't do anything. :(

I believe UAC can't be set on the two lowest levels in order for gadgets to work. There's another work around as well, but it might incovenience you if you've already got all your personal settings.

Is this a bug then? I can't seem to do anything with gadgets, either.

Neither can I, I turned off the clock gadget and the others that were there when I installed the OS.

And I've put UAC up to max and it still doesn't do anything when I click on gadgets, either in the start menu, in control panel, or on the context menu?

Although it is possible, as Win 7 is a beta, that M$ have put the links there but deactivated them so they can't be used yet.

Besides the gadgets are nothing special, it's just M$ copying Stardock's ObjectDock and other similar 3rd party apps. Assuming what worked in Vista works in Win 7 there are tons of gadgets already out there to use with ObjectDock and RocketDock, although to be honest I've never used ObjectDock or RocketDock or any similar apps in Vista so I don't actually know if they work or not...

Gadgets work for me, with UAC set to the second lowest level.

    +1

No issues whatsoever with Gadgets. I've installed a few Vista ones and they all install and work fine. (W7 32bit here).

Most Gadgets work for me using the default UAC settings(I never touched the UAC settings yet). But some Gadgets are not compatible. Like AccuWeather Gadget doesn't work at all and the AppLauncher is buggy & doesn't let you change options.
