    Hello,

    I have just received my clevo M570RU, i ordered it without windows, because i have some windows versions at home (legal, via student license). Now i first tried to install windows xp pro, it booted the cd, i formatted the disc to NTFS, created a 50GB partition for windows and let it install. When it was done, the laptop rebooted, as supposed to, and to continue installation further. Now it got to the loading screen of windows, after witch it should continue further, i have installed more then 1 pc in my life. But it doesnt. The loading bar from windows runs for about 5 cycles and the laptop instantly cuts all power, and is black. I hope this is a solvable problem, i think so because it does show an image, it boots, it copies files to the hard disks etc. I have tried changing the boot order of the HDD and the DVD drive, doesnt work. It did got a little furter to the installation screen though, but there it went black aswell.

    The specs:
    processor: T7500
    160 GB HDD 5400RPM
    Gforce 8700GT M 512mb
    2048 mb DDR2 6400

    I really hope someone can help me solve this.

    Thanks in advance

    As far as you have gotten in the install process, my question SHOULD be irrelevant, but what version of XP Pro are you installing? Does it have SP2, SP1, or is it a pre-service-pack XP disc?

    @ghn:

    No, that's AHCI. If AHCI is turned on in BIOS, the Windows installer won't even recognize the hard drive. This sounds like the install is, for all intents and purposes, succeeding except for the final localization and registration step.

    well somehow, after a few try's it suddenly worked. I went to have dinner and left the laptop on charge, when i got back i tried again and it installed properly. BUt now heres the next problem. I installed maya, and set my laptop to a intermediate rendering task, and during the process of that it blacked out again. The rendering is fully on the CPU. Any solutions to that?
