Hi I have an M17XR3 with a 680M graphics card installed (Nvidia 680M M17XR3 compatability taught me how).
Now when I try to install the Assassins Creed 3 game, install shield wizard gets to about 85% into starting up and then freezes. (I click on the english option and then it doesn't get any further into installation).
Not really sure why. I downloaded it from Uplay and it did not install. So I borrowed my friends disc and tried to install but that did not work either).
Bit lost as to what to do now.
I noticed a couple of new windows updates failed to install recently too: The update for Kernel - Mode Driver Framework version 1.11 for windows 7 for X64 based systems (KB2685811) and the second failed update was Update for user mode Driver Framework version 1.11 for windows x64 based systems (KB2685813). When they install you have to restart and it always fails to install them and reverts back to previous setting.
I tried fix it install and unistall programs application but that errors and doesn't work either. I installed Torchlight 2 today to see if it was anything to do with my computer but that installed fine.
Any ideas on what it can be?
Is there a newer Nvidia driver I need to install? Tried the latest ones but they do not install at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: tried installing new drivers but it hasn't changed anything at all. Installshield Wizard still freezes on start up. Tried reinstalling Street Fighter X Tekken and that stopped responding as well so its something to do with install wizard clearly. Can I download a newer version to fix this etc? Any fixes for this at all?. can't roll back system there is no file to roll back to.
    Tried a repair disc, nope.
Tried to look in task manager, program starts as setup.exe *32. Went into properties and clicked run as administrator. No luck (on both games).
Tried cccleaner to clean out old files, no luck.
Tried uninstalling some old programs that may contradict it but that didn't work.
Tried restarting the system by turning off all but the microsoft services to see if there was a program interrupting the process but no.
Tried booting in safe mode but it still freezes and says Not responding.

When trying to install Street Fighter X Tekken I get a error message after a while that says :
    Error number: 0x80040708
    Description : (0x80004005) unspecified error.
    Set Up will now terminate

Looked this up and says something about changing compatability mode to windows xp service pack 2. Tried that and now the installer freezes without ever saying (not responding) in the top bar. Tried this on Assassins creed 3 and it does the same thing in windows compatability mode xp service pack 2.

ok finally got error msg for AC3.
    Error number:0x80040708
description : the server threw an exception.
    set up will now terminate.

    hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
