    hello,

i was looking into it, for using my laptop screen (1080p IPS, way better than my cruddy tv) using intel WiDi? as in is it only sender - receiver from laptop to TV or if i say plugged it into a ps3 or other HDMI (the widi dongle) could it mirror whats on the screen of the other device for me? Issues with sound?

i got no hdmi input on laptop, so looking into alternatives, as i don't want to splash out on TV. not when i got a lovely laptop screen like this :)

any alternatives i could use for this, if anything at all, if intel WiDi is a no go?

I have read on TV boxes with HDMI in, mostly that they got a huge delay with out of sync audio.

    Bump...

If not Intel Widi is there any other gadget that would allow me to stream my ps3/wii u whatever to laptop?

Since there seem to be zero information on this, presumably the TV side hdmi dangles are receive only, though I see no reason why couldn't do both... I suppose hdmi port might be hdmi out on those.

WiDi won't do what you are after as it is for streaming your laptop to your TV, and unfortunately, I've never found a low enough latency high quality solution to what you are wanting. There are USB Video capture devices that will technically "work", but they sure don't work great... it will get the image on your laptop screen, but is usually either low quality or delayed to the point that control input is annoying for gaming.

I've used my ps3 with an old desktop monitor via an hdmi to dvi cable, but you won't have any sound, unless you choose to use some Bluetooth headphones.

Well the problem is I got no TV or old monitor ^_^ got a 12" laptop screen but converting would cost like half price of a small TV plus still no sound
