    The short answer is No and No, no customization options and it's pretty much but not exactly the same on Mac and Win, the win version is pretty much always worse and older.

    For me, iTunes has always been epically slow on my machine. And it's not because of my hardware so ...

    I doubt iTunes is this slow on Mac.

    iTunes has always been a pile of poo on Windows.
    It gets the job done (barely) but does not get extra cookie points.

    I know my sister has to use it now that she bought herself a iPhone so there is no end to the complains i hear. D;

    Yea, iTunes used to be slow in my past experiences when I had to use it. This was like 6yrs ago.

    But I installed it on my notebook a couple days ago and i've noticed a big improvement in speed, on start up esp. (maybe like 2 secs max) and just regular navigation.

    This could be that Apple made it more lightweight since then or the simple fact that i'm running an SSD.

    Anyhow, back on topic. Can't really say as i don't use Macs.

    2 s is a long time to launch a music player. Others launch under a second on an SSD

    I was being generous and more realistic to what my eyes and brain can perceive and calculate. And fwiw iTunes is more full-featured than the typical 'music player'. But, that's just my opinion.

    iTunes on my dad's (granted, realtively old) desktop is still extremely sluggish, especially compared side by side with Windows Media Player and foobar2000. From a features point-of-view, it's more or less the same as on Mac, although some things are stripped away (I don't think themes are supported, although I may be wrong).

    Safari on Windows is a relatively poor choice given the better options out there, but the two versions are similar with some differences.
