    just like the subject says,

I just got a Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000, which is extremely senstive and I use on a lower sensitivity setting.

But when I go portable and don't have the mouse the touchpad setting is to slow.

It isn't that hard to readjust the setting in Intellipoint 5.4 but i want to know if it is possible to have specific settings for the touchpad and mouse?

    thanks

You should have received some software with your mouse with which you can set different sensitivity levels for your mouse. The sensitivity levels you set with that should be independent from the touchpad settings in Control Panel.

In general, it is possible. Go to Control Panel > Mouse > there should be separate tabs for the mouse and the touchpade.
As it has been mentioned already, you might need to install the mouse driver that should come with the mouse or should be downloadable

What the...are you sure about that circa86???

I think you should double check your driver installations for both touchpad and mouse, I'm pretty darn sure you should be able to set the motion speeds separately

    Cheers,

I know exactly the problem you're having

    check out MouseSwitcher http://www.mouseswitcher.com

it will let you set two custom mouse speeds, one for the touchpad and one for the mouse. It will work with any mouse and any Windows laptop. You can switch speeds with a hotkey. super convenient. Don't have to fool around in the control panel anymore.
