we have this option in the "power options" where you can close the lid of your lappy without the prompting the system to standby instead it will just do nothing.

my question is "is it safe to play music while the lid is close?" will it cause any harm on my lappy?

I've done it, haven't noticed any problems as a result, and I don't see why it would cause problems. However, since my speakers are partially covered when the lid is closed, it's not something I've done often.

oh thanks! i'm planning in doing it often since i hate dust accumulating on my lappy when the lid is open while i just wanna listen to music while m doing my thesis :D . i also have external speakers and headphones and so i don't have to use my lappy's speaker.

While playing music how hot is it going to get? Just set it so moniter shuts off. I understand that the lid may keep in some heat, but it can't be that bad.

not sure how hot it can be.. even if you shots off the monitor, the keyboard parts will still emit some heat. but it maybe it may not be that bad.

You know, if the only reason you want to close it is dust, I don't think you have anything to worry about. I mean, it'd be hard to get so much dust that it would interfere with other parts or jump out of the keyboard as you type. If it bothers you so much though, you can get some canned air and blow it out.

Whoah, holy marathon man flashback, Batman! :D

I wouldn't worry too much about heat, decoding MP3s is hardly CPU or graphics intensive.

An alternative may be a keyboard skin if one is available for your notebook. Please not I'm not endorsing or recommending the above company, they were just the 1st non-paid hit for "keyboard skin" on google. ;)

Agreed with malia.zee, and I don't think you'll have any problems closing the lid.
