question as above. i read the wiki article and i cant seem to see any other benefit other than parental controls, additional media stuff, and frills like downloadable wallpapers etc.

am i right? or are there any other features i dint notice?

Have you searched around here on NBR? There are many threads discussing this.

Just to give you a quick answer, please see here...

Yes, you are almost right there.. and one more thing, you have better protection against data loss with Ultimate..

Also its just 20 USD more for ultimate... and I would prefer having ultimate in this case, just to make sure its a complete package. And i have been using this without any issues as such since I got it.. its been a nice experience.

The main thing Ultimate would get you is the stuff that's in Home Premium but not in Business: Media Center, DVD Maker, the HD version of Movie Maker... and Parental Controls as you mentioned.

Upgrading to Ultimate would also get you BitLocker drive encryption (may require a TPM chip), some poker game... some wallpaper stuff.

It certainly depends on your needs, I guess. For me I am pleased with Business and has no need to upgrade. Just make sure to read all the features within Ultimate whether you need those or not and see the price to make an answer for yourself. :)

Bottomline still rests depending on your Needs.. For me I need all eyecandy I cud get.. Dreamscenes are pretty neat, anyway :)

if ur cOnsidering to move from 32 to x64, maybe this time it won't be necessary as most of the applications are still in a 32-bit version ... maybe in the future .. :)

But, you give up 5 years of extended support, which provides continued security-related support, until 2017 in the case of _Vista Business; all other versions of _Vista get no support whatsoever, including security support, after April of 2012.

Oh. so what happens to the support of other vista versions then? as in NO security updates/fixes after April 2012?

    Bingo.

In fact, even us XP laggards get better security support - even lowly XP Home gets extended (aka security) support through April of 2014.
