i need something that can broadcast my IP address to appear as if im inside of the USA so i can browse websites that allow only USA feeds.

Honestly, specifically im looking to watch ABC or NBC or MTV shows that are broadcasted on the website, only available to USAers. Im in Canada, and im gonna miss a couple months of watching Lost on ABC and CTV, and Lost's streaming video is only allowed for Americans.

Any program (or website) that will allow me to do this?

No, not really. Well, actually yes there are programs that can do this, but I don't know how ethical it is for me to suggest them here. In any case, it's wouldn't be a topic we could discuss here. Suffice it to say that if you are adamant and savvy enough, you can find it.

    Proxy?

And is the method you speak of for this case really unethical? I mean the broadcast is already put out there for all to see...

You dont need software, just a proxy server website I would think.

BTW Gautam, this question doesnt have to be an illegal activity at all. The IP percieved affects your choices on google for instance, or newspaper websites etc. Even online music stores sometimes. Many very legitimate things actually.

Whether it is programs or proxy website, the point is that there are legitimate reasons for such a need, so per definition, one cannot assume it to be linked to "unethical" - as you did there.

Only way to "change" your IP address is to use a proxy.

Your ISP gives you an IP address, and that's it. Anyone can look it up and see which ISP it belongs to, and get a rough idea of where it's located geographically. You can't change that, because it's what any webservers you contact use to send content back to you.

Best you can do is to pipe your requests through a proxy server somewhere in the area you need.

Actually downloading copyrighted material IS considered unethical by many....maybe not you, but the law and most would agree.

lol.....i love how everyone is dancing around the issue here. I mean is talking about torrents really against the rules so long as we don't talk about what is being downloaded and where to download from? If this guy is paying any attention, he'll figure out the easiest way to download tv shows through the course of these posts. But as i suggested, try a proxy :)

The same TV shows are all over YouTube and Itunes. So no, I dont have any stress over it. Sorry. And last I checked, you none of the agreements YouTube has made differentiate between users in countries. So the law isnt going to be all that clear cut either.

Just rework which ports Tor needs to go through.
