    is there a way to disable the boot up sounds for windows?

    im talking about when u turn on the computer, when windows boots and that sound plays. can i disable that?

    Yes you can.

    Go to Control Panel --> Sounds & Audio Devices--> Sounds tab-->under "Program Events" select "Start Windows". Then under "Sounds", scroll up and select none.

    Heck, I even disable the System Beep. My computer is completely silent unless I trigger a sound or movie file in its' own application.

    I turn off most sounds as I find them annoying.

    Another benefit of turning off the system sounds is that you may notice a slight decrease in boot times. But, it depends on your system.

    I used to hate all the "extras" that Windows provided, but now that I have a laptop that can handle all the goodies and a desktop that can handle all the goodies, I just leave 'em all on :D

    Kinda nice.

    I only have alert type sounds on. I know when I turned my computer on, why would I want a sound to confirm it, esp. the one they pick.
