Windows XP pro run through nlite would probably be somewhat of what product you would be looking at.

    Simply because oif costs.
And don'T some people say Vista Home Premium, Business and Ultimate runn off the same files on a CD?

Operating systems have become to complext to offer 20 different versions.

Now with XP - all you had was Home, Professional, Media Centre

Now I believe you said above that it was illegal in your quote.

What I could imagine is, that this "gamers edition" is only a tweaked version of Windows professional. This however means you should be abl to do the same with a legal copy of Windows professional and a guide - this would then be legal.

But a a such - the only Windows XP versions are Home, Professional and Media Centre.

(Was there one for developing countries too, or not? Like Vista Home Basic...?)

Yeah these special editions often show up on The Pirate Bay, Demonoid, etc. You download it, install, and find out later you have a mess of viruses and some serious rootkits. And regarding Vista, I have a disc from MSDN (family member is a member) with exactly what you said- Biz, Premium, and Ultimate. Just depends on what key you put in.

Its a very stripped down version of XP, it takes about 250MB hardisk space when installed, and boots up in under 15 sec with 15-17 processes.

You can see why they call it gamer edition.

If you extreme "Tune" your XP you can probably make the same.

Yes, Windows XP starter edition. The catch with this version (and it's Vista successor) is that you can only run a certain number of programs at once. Also, each version is geared toward the countries it's used in, so things like help content, screensavers, and themes & backgrounds reflect that.

Don't forget about the XP "N" editions that don't contain IE or WMP.

All "flavors" of Vista are on the install disc, so yes: Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate are all included on the install disc. It is your license which tells the installation of what "features" to include as the only difference between the different versions are the feature sets.

This is so they could do their "Upgrade Anytime" program without the need for producing more physical media and/or bandwidth costs.

For XP, the best "flavor" for gaming (in my opinion) was Media Center which was essentially a slightly stripped down Professional version with the Media Center applications added.

Gamer edition happens to be a warez copy, nothing more then stripped down Windows XP so it has nothing running in background, ideal for gamers since it has hardly anything running in the background, so you get max performance out of it. However its also illegal copy, you can get same results simply formatting, installing XP and not install a bunch of junk that will eat up system resources.
You can find 20 illegal copies of random windows on warez sites, some ranging from graphic editor version of windows (basically XP with bunch of cracked/illegal copies of adobe photoshop etc) rolled into one easy download.

I'm betting the next WoW-windows would be a chinese copy of windows XP with hacked copy of world of warcraft for the chinese gold farmers.

I guess if you download from random places but probably is no malware on it. Regardless I can't recommend these cut down versions because the tradeoff is there

As mentioned, its a cracked illegal windows OS so thread is closed because discussion of those types of programs is not allowed. I also suggest that you stay away from them since you have no idea whats included.
