    is there any program or os to be able to watch movies or listen to music without booting to xp? beside dell media direct

    You can use DSL or Knoppix

    Any live Linux distro, DSL as pointed out.
    There's also Feather, Xubuntu (probably too slow) and Puppy linux.

    which consumes lowest power? i need this because i travel a lot and i need my laptop to be on a long time.

    or how can i watch movies and don't discharge battery for other things.

    For lowest power consumption try running DSL/Feather linux off a flash drive.
