Hi I have a laptop with 14.1 screen that I use for travel. I hate this resolution but I use something like gotomypc and remote to 1920 x 1200 computer at home it crams everything into my 1600x900 screen. Quality isn't great but I'm wondering if there are any programs that will do this? Thanks

No you can't unless the screen can do 1900x1200 short of lcd replacement your limited. 1900x1200 from my laptop usage only comes in 17" flavor and not smaller unless you buy the newest of new laptop then those might come with 1900x1200 but you will be paying a premium for that resolution if they offer that. Your 14" without knowing what model and make will be hard to know what resolution it is display would help more to know as well. -

A 1600 x 900 native resolution will not support anything beyond that in a "native" fashion, so you will always get a poor display from trying to force a higher resolution, because the LCD is only rated for so many pixels. So simply put: no, you can not use any software to force or "cram" 1920 x 1080 into a native 1600 x 900, as far as I know. And if you can manage to find some sort of software that will force it, I can only imagine it will look bad.

That or they take the big risk of burning out the LCD since that isn't it's native resolution. The later of which would most likely happen.....if they went that route....

The OP knows it will look like crap. I can't condone it, but he wants what he wants. He wants the OS to have a desktop of 1920x1080, but have that rescaled to display on his 1600x900 monitor. It is doable, I am sure. I just don't know the specifics.

No, his request makes no sense. His laptop already does what he wants, automatically, as much as is logically possible.

No, you just don't understand. I think it is stupid, but it does make sense. He wants a 1920x1080 desktop, and the image of that desktop shrunk down to fit onto a 1600x900 screen. Basically the same as having a lower resolution upscaled to fit a higher resolution screen, but a higher resolution downscaled to fit a lower resolution screen.

Theres already a thread on it, but it does seem possible as long as your laptop will support it.
