i cant put my avi videos into itunes therefore cannot put into my ipod video. I've done conversions to mp4, and it wont go int omy ipod. does it have anything to do with xvid and other codecs?
-
Indeed.
The iPod is very particular about how the video is encoded. Your best bet is to download this guy, and then just use it to convert your video. You can do it other ways, but it can be a bit of a hassle. -
I use WinxMedia AVI iPod converter for my video iPod.
What do you mean "it won't go into my iPod"?
Does it transfer through? Does it not play? -
says ipod cannot play this video so it won't transfer

You should probably change converters.
Try to get a video on video.google.ca and you can download it directly for iPod. -
I believe I did answer your question. Second post. A link to the Videora iPod converter.
-
Yeah I'm checking that out right now. Thanks, I'll let you know how it goes. -
I personally used bearshare and downloaded a mp4 encoder made specially for PSP and iPod conversions, works wonders.

My clip is widesreen, and i keep chaning the profile stuff in setup and resolution keeps coming out 320x240.
I manually changed resolution to 320x176 and aspect ratio 16:9. In profile picker I chose MPEG-4/Movie and for the resolution says its good for 16:9 content. My videos come out 320x240 however and everythings stretched vertically and taller -
I remember having that issue. It was some little detail... I did wind up getting it working; widescreen with no black bars. I'll look at my settings when I get home, and tell you what I did.
-
Alright thanks. Can you give me those values and values for if I want bars too (if you have that)?
-
Sorry I'm so long getting back to you. I forgot until later last night, then realized I didn't have Videora installed anymore, and then didn't really have the time to set it up and test it. Anyways, I attached a screenshot of my current settings, which did work to make a widescreen ipod-compatible video. I'm not sure what all the h.264 settings are for. the mpeg 4 settings will give you a little larger of a file, but will probably extend your battery life slightly, as they're less computationally intensive to decode.
I don't think this program is capable of adding in extra black bars to make a 16:9 video into something more square. I don't really know why you'd want to do that, anyways.Attached Files:

thanks I'll give it a try. I've changed the resolution before but no matter what it always comes out 320x240. but ill give this a shot anyways. Thanks.
-
I've done my settings the way you showed me, but still no matter what I'm getting 320x240. is there something I didn't do to actually make the resoltuions stay the way I want it to?
-
well... you need to click "new profile", give it a name, and then after you change the settings, you need to click "apply". then, on the convert page, click "transcode new video" (as opposed to 1-click), and select the profile you created before clicking "start"
