So not all my music comes directly from ripped CDs, is there anyway to have itunes add music into the system it has in my music to keep everything nice? Or do I have to do that myself and have itunes lose the ability to delete the songs off of my computer?

Why not use foobar2000 (has Media Library feature) than using bloated iTunes? You can keep iTunes when you want to buy some music.

So you want to add the music files of another folder into iTunes? Do that my importing the folder using File>Add to Library.

    huh?

I do what Budding does. File > Add to Library and then iTunes makes a copy of the music file under its own folder. (Or at least it does on my Mac)

From there, I usually delete the originals so that all my music is stored under the same folder. If I rename a file in iTunes, that change is reflected in the folder where the music is stored. If I delete a file in iTunes, that song is deleted from the folder where the music is stored.

    Simple.

Hmm cause that is what I am doing, but the music is not copied to the itunes folder. Instead the music is just put in my music library.

Go to Preferences>Advanced>General and check the Copy files to iTunes Music Folder when adding to library box.

Thanks man that did it. That must come checked by default on macs. Since with my old ibook this was never a problem. I just assumed that maybe it was a feature lost in the transition over to windows
