Run msconfig and remove it from startup.

Last I ran iTunes, there were a bunch of programs it ran in the background even when you're not using it. I'd disable all of them at startup:

    iTunesHelper
    qttask (checks for quicktime updates)
    iPodService
    AppleMobileDeviceService

er... I forget, but the last two might be services that you'd disable by running "services.msc".

They all will reappear when you update iTunes, and you can disable them all again. Eventually I took the easier route and just got rid of iTunes. :) And if you don't use iTunes, you probably don't need QuickTime either.

AppleMobileDeviceService is so stubborn that even after disabling & stopping it from services.msc it still runs!
