i keep on getting a notification on win xp on downloading 'security update for windows xp service pack 3 (kb952069)'.
what gives?
-
it is downloading, but it is not installing, thus windows is repeatedly trying to install it.
Why it is not installing is the real question.
Visit windows update and do a manual install--this will usually give you an error number that might help. If that does not yield results, look at the windows update log in c:\windows and look at the bottom for the most recent FAILURE...(log is added to at the bottom) -
i just noticed that i dont get the % of download for this update so it seems like it didnt even download
-
no--because it is already downloaded and in your software distribution folder--again, what does the windows update log say?
-
ok what i did is i turned off windows update via cmd and then i renamed the downloads forlder to something else. i then manually downloaded the update and installed it in safe mode.
i think what happened is i got a corrupted download and windows tries to redownload it but it then checks that the file is already present but cant install it.
the notification hasnt appeared again. hopefully all is good. -
oh and thanks for all the help
+1
