Do not base it on detection rates or anything, ONLY ON RESOURCE HOGGING.
    rank the following:

    Avira Anti-virus
    AVG Anti-virus
    Avast! Anti-virus
    Kaspersky Antivirus
    NOD32 Antivirus
    Nortan Antivirus

    and some other mains ones

NOD32 or Kapersky would probably be the best choices if you want low resource usage.

I'd say you already have them ranked. I'm using both Avira and AVG on computers in our household, and i'd say they both use system recourses pretty equally, but Avira's virus detection is a little better.
    My ranking:
    1. Avira Anti-virus
    2. AVG Anti-virus
    3. Avast! Anti-virus
    4. Kaspersky Antivirus
    5. NOD32 Antivirus
    6. Nortan Antivirus
