hi, hoping someone out there can help me with this:
i am looking to get a notebook, and from what i understand, the performance difference between core duo T2350 (1.86Ghz, 2MB L2, 533) and the t7100 (1.8Ghz, 2MB L2, 800) is minimal (~10% battery efficiency).
thus far the price differential between an ACER 4710 (with T2350) and the ACER 4720 (with T7100) is 180 usdollars.
at that price, given minimal performance difference for my needs (mainly downloading movies (and recording/making/editing movies too), music, photos, general word processing/excel, internet), i am inclined to go with the cheaper 4710.
however, this model is configured with 512 MB RAM, Intel GMA 950 (max64MB) and Linpus Linux BE.
can i actually somehow change the Linux system to Windows Vista Home Premium or Ultimate? will the notebook be able to handle the "upgrade"/switch in OS?
i have checked the MS site to see what is required for a notebook to be Premium ready.
essentially what i need is to
1) upgrade to minimum 1 GB RAM (easily done).
2) but also the graphics processor must be able to run Windows Aero, and also MS DirectX 9 (WDDM), with 128MB (min) of graphics memory.
can someone put all this in english for me...?
or at least tell me if with this notebook, the ACER 4710 (T2350), i will be able to use windows home premium/ultimate?
if anyone can shed light, would be much appreciated.
thnaks

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
If you've got a Vista disk and the correct Vista drivers for that machine there should be no reason why you cannot install Vista. If you intend to use Vista 2GB of RAM is recommended (you can probably live with 1.5 in your case, since you have a 512MB stick already).
You probably will not be able to run the Aero feature with that GMA950, though. -
Actually, I think you can run the Aero feature with the GMA950.
linpus linux be to windows vista, etc..
