i can't seem to find the screen as in windows XP where you can see a list of available within range wifi connections to connect to.
usually in areas where there are wifi connections, when i was using XP, i just open the list of available wifi networks and click on it to connect to the desired one. but now it's not possible with windows 7 so i always get no connection and it cannot scan any of it... i'd like to know if there is that list of connections available screen in windows 7 as in windows xp

btw, i have all the proper drivers and installed.

Have you tried left-clicking on the signal strength icon next to the speaker icon in the taskbar?

yes i tried everything and i don't see a list as you have it there.. and i know 1000% sure that there are plenty of wifi connections at some places cuz that's where i usually connect when i use windows xp... i don't think that windows 7 decreases the wifi reception range by that much to the point that it cannot detect anything :(

Sorry for the stupid question, but are you sure your wifi drivers have installed correctly? Any exclamation points or unknown hardware indicators in Device Manager? I've been lucky, wifi has worked out-of-the-box for me with Win 7

I've been having issues with mine. List of networks won't refresh until I reboot. Annoying as hell.

I had a similar problem when I first installed Win 7 on my e1505. Windows automatically installed a generic wireless adapter driver that allowed my wireless to work, but not perfectly - occasionally dropping connection, freezing up after sleep. I later installed the Vista driver for my wireless adapter from Dell and everything has been working much better. Just because 7 finds a driver for your device, it doesn't mean that it's the best driver.
