so when i turn on my laptop with the ethernet cable plugged in, i receive local access only to the network which is designated "network" and an unidentified network which is just labeled "unidentified network."
when i disable the local are network and re-enable it, it then works. i don't understand why, and i also don't know if it only does it on this router. i think it used to automatically connect, but i cannot remember.
i just want it to automatically connect to the internet when i turn on my computer![]()

i guess it's a mystery to everyone else too

Go into connection properties, disable IPv6, and instead use IPv4, & set a DNS....maybe that shud fix it but not sure..
I ve heard of this problem on computers when vista wakes up from sleep mode the default gateway kinda get lost due to some DHCP problem....!!
when it gives his problem why dont u check in the router if it is connected to the internet, that would help u to know if the problem is with the router/service or the vista..!! try renewing the IP address via cmd prompt..!! -
Isn't this very same question, by the very same questioner, posted in the Networking forum? Multi-posting just gets you a bunch of inconsistent answers with no ability to get the answerers to hammer out a single, consistent answer.

Maybe you had installed some networks loops at one point? Sometimes they are used to create a fake local network used, usually for printing support in a MS-DOS program. They can at times affect the other networks. Try uninstalling the network adapter and deleting any networks that your computer remembers. Then reinstall the network adapter and see if this still happens.
Make sure to uninstall all network adapters. Only reinstall the ones necessary. Depending on how it is set up, a network loop can actually install itself as a network adapter, so you wouldn't want to reinstall it. Unless you need it for something. -
ummmm, I think I saw this thread on the network and wireless......
