ok....so about 6 months ago I purchased Fujitsu s7010D and I have been loving it ever since. When I got it...it would automatically log in as the administrator....so I said "ok..I'll just use the Administrator account as my main account" So for the past 6 months every little customization possible I have done, and I had it "perfect"...I couldn't have asked for anything different.
Now I am getting into video editing, and got software and stuff for my laptop, but I wanted to be able to keep it more organized on my computer, SOO...I decided that I would make another user account and call it "video editing" which I would use strictly for video editing...thus allowing me to organize everything. When I did this...all of a sudden the administrator account disappeared from the login screen and all that happens is that I can login under "video editing" which is like starting a brand new computer........all settings default.
AHHH!!!! when this happened..it all clicked... I realized that I should have done this in the very beginning and then made a new account for my video editing. so I know what i did wrong...![]()
So NOW...I know that under "documents and settings" it shows my administrator account and all of my stuff is there...(example - desktop, favorites,etc..basically my whole account). But now I don't know how to log back in as the administrator... What I really want to be able to do is to somehow transfer all the settings and EVERYTHING that I had done under that account into a "NORMAL" one and then make an account for my video editing...
HOW DO I DO THIS!!????? How do I even log in as the administrator again??? Please help me....cause I feel totally lost and helpless on my computer right now.....
THANKS!!

start / logoff / switch user

ya except that the only user that shows up is the new one that i made ("Video Editing") I'm not stupid.....

if you don't use the welcome screen, you can type in administrator or admin and log in that way
get into the control panel and open the user accounts panel
click the "change the way users log on or off", then deselect "use the welcome screen"
another option is to make another new account and copy all the favorites and such to the new account's folder in Docs & Settings -
hey BigV thanks! I was able to log in as the administrator with all of my old settings just how i had them! But...... now I am realizing that if I want to be able to use the Welcome screen I won't be able to use the Administrator account if I have another account also...
Cause under the administrator account settings under user accounts....it says "The Administrator account is only visible on the Welcome Screen when no other user accounts exist (except the guest account), or when you start your computer in Safe Mode" So basically I would have to use the old style login to be able to use more than one....
So....is it possible for me to copy everything that I have set in my administrator account and put it into a new account. Cause this ranges from touchpad settings to desktop and screen saver settings...basically everything... I know that just copying the stuff out of "documents and settings" won't work......right?
anyways...does anyone have a suggestion for what I should do? cause I would like to be able to use the welcome screen..
thanks! -
bumpity bump...

I would create a new account, give it admin privileges, then use that account copy everything in the user profile of the old admin account the one you want to use. That should technically work. Not entirely sure that's what you want to do though.

This should be of some assistance. This articles tells you how to transfer your files and settings from one PC to another PC, but it should do what you want and that is to transfer your settings over from one account to another.

Simon,
You don't need to do anything. He's a little trick that not a lot of people know about.
When you boot your system in the XP Welcome Screen, it will list all the accounts except for the Administrator account. All you need to do is hold down CTRL & ALT and tap DEL twice. This will popup the old LOGIN type screen, just enter the Administrator account name and the password and it will log you in.
Good Luck!
