Hi there,
i'm not sure if this is related, but there was a thread on here on how to measure boot up time Measure bootup time
i ran the software that was on there..restarted..and ever since i have a problem with lsass.exe..whenever i connect to the internet it takes up to 40-50 CPU usage, for almost like 10 mins..which results into rise in temperatue of my laptop.
And if i kill it it posts a msg saying that "a critical process has been terminated your computer will restart in 1 min" or something of that sort.
i Googled the problem and it said that there's a Sasser worm that can cause that,i d/l symantec sasser worm fix tool,it scanned the laptop and found nothing..
So anyone knows how i can remove it, or if that's not the problem then what is the problem exactly?
Thanks in advance.

Lsass is also a system service process, unless I am mistaken. That would explain why killing the process crashes your system; and it also reveals that your computer isn't infected with the worm.
-
But it's not normal that it takes up 40-50 from CPU usage for over 10 mins...

I've the lsass.exe process as well. Mine's behaving normally, so it could be related to something else.
Try running a registry cleaner or something, or System Restore.

mine's being normal most of the time as well , but mainly when i connect to the internet it takes over 10 mins using up heavy resources
It only happened after i used the re-boot,boot-up files u posted in ur thread Andy.
And i did run a registery cleaner. -
I have no idea why thats happening. I had run those 2 tools a couple of 10 times, to check their credibility, and my system is perfectly normal. No spikes in CPU/RAM/HDD usage.
Did you let BootTimer run its cleanup utility after reboot. You could try running both of them again, and if they missed something during the previous cleanup, they might clean up the system now.
Best would be to do a System Restore, to a time before you ran both the tools.
You could also run a Virus-scan, and check the Logs, since wiki says that it writes to the windows security log, so you could track down whats causing the high cpu usage. -
i let it complete the cleaning..and i did run a virus scan it found nothing..
unfortunately i hv my system restore turned off..i can format the laptop but i'm wondering if anyone knows how to fix that problem. -
Try creating a new user account, and see if that runs fine. Lsass is associated with local security.

I'd say it's a coincidence, I don't see how the script can cause this abnormal cpu usage. Check this link hope some of the solutions posted there work for you.
