hello everyone i am very frustrated. I just switched from Vista to XP on my dell xps m1530 laptop and i had to disable ahci. I heard there are ways to enable ahci on XP by tweaking the registry and installing drivers so i went through a few guides but they all have failed me. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to enable ahci on xp that work?

You need to install the Intel Chipset Utility I think, and that might be the last thing you need to do.

I've personally never gotten it to work, but I understand that some people have managed to get it.
