Today at costco i noticed i could get norton sytem works 2006 or mcafee latest for $20 after rebates. Im using avg right now, but i know payed AV is better. Which of the two are better/less consuming? or is there another i could get for $20 that would be comparable?

I've owned both Norton and McAfee, and I would have to say that McAfee is much for straightfoward, simple, and it works well. For those reasons of great protection with an easy interface, I prefer McAfee to Norton.

Bit-Defender from online is good. Don't get Norton, its slow. McAfee is decent. But I suggest bit-defender. google it.

If you're gonna pay money for AV, go for NOD32. Otherwise go with Avast!

Also, get a good firewall (such as Kerio).

I've tried Norton, McAfee, and Avast!. I find that McAfee has the better interface but Avast! has more features. I didn't like Avast!'s other program's that loaded up when you started your computer. I use to hate McAfee cause it would run like crazy when I would load up a program such as a game or IE. Then I found out that I can have it 'scan for program files and documents only' which helped a lot, especially on my dad's computer which would take forever loading up the desktop. I'm sticking with McAfee mainly cause I get it free through Comcast. Oh well.
