well you could try... see if you have the registry key as mentioned in that post (the one with the excel crash).. and if yes, try changing it and see if it works...

If not, are you able to see any error codes? or have tried looking in the event logs to see if there is any information there?

Upon digging, it looks like (from your faulting module) its probably some Xerox driver related issue.... can't find anything else.. You could try updating the printer drivers on ur system...

Btw, what do the other error codes look like? like when power point or other office app's crash??? see if they are having anything similar..

as for registry editing / changes, YES, you are right.. its very critical and important we know what we are doing. Else do not mess with the registry. Having said that, its not a dead end.. you can always make a back up of the registry before doing anything (and preferably backup of the system or at least the data, which is always recommended).. and if u have any issues after the changes, you could always fix it back by merging the backup you made..

As fonduekid says, it might be a corrupt printer driver. Try uninstalling the Xerox printer, and any helper apps or utilities that got installed along with the printer, and then do a fresh reinstallation of the printer drivers to see if that fixes the problem.

My error codes on all of my other programs that crash look the exact same just with the name of the program instead of office word "Has stopped working"

why is it that a printer would stop my programs from working?? just out of curiosity sake

^ well in fact, googling the module name "x2rpclAO.dll" returns just 3 major results, two from driver agent, and there in the description its gives xerox.. so there.. didn't know no one else has this issue..

I don't know the tech details behind this issue / error, but from reading around, following discussions here on NBR and elsewhere, I did learn that the print server' / printer drivers can conflict / cause issue with office app's... if you browse a few threads below, you'll see a very similar issue, but with the hp printer driver... I am still trying to understand better, but I would imagine its some issue with the way office app' integrate with other devices, like the printer for printing doc's......

Edit: Look at Shyster1 Below, for better explanation on why this issue!

Because the application has to be able to interface with the printer driver in order to print anything, and if the printer driver sends back garbled or corrupt data, that may cause the application to hang; e.g., the application probably "blocks" while it's waiting for a response back from the printer driver (i.e., it doesn't do anything else until it gets a response back), and since it's getting something, but not something intelligible, it just sits there forever, waiting.

IDK...but I had to troubleshoot a similar issue for someone w/ a Wireless HP Printer and PowerPoint. Everytime PowerPoint was closed the computer would give an error similar to the one in post #3. A workaround was to change the default printer to another printer. (If there is no other actual physical printer; Microsoft XPS/Adobe PDF etc. would suffice)

I looked up a permanent fix and there was a procedure; to re-install the drivers and some other steps which required the printer to be turned off etc. etc.

PS: And this issue would only occur w/ PowerPoint...no other Office application.

you know to be hoenst i didnt think uninstalling the printer would do anything but things are seeming to work lol...

one thing i did notice though is that i no longer have the ability to add things to the powerpoint,... its not in the same look it used to me... theres no list of slides on the left side anymore etc... is there anyway to get that back?

does anyone know what i mean lol

Well, you don't have to necessarily 'uninstall' the printer driver.. you just have to update them and see if it works!! Else yeah, may be uninstall..

As for powerpoint, I am not sure if this is connected with your uninstalling the printer drivers, but have you checked the powerpoint viewing options? or played around with the settings??

It most likely is a printer driver issue. My HP printer was causing the same thing. Try uninstalling the associated software and just re-install only the printer driver. This is assuming you have a HP printer, if not try it anyway, just might work.

Edit* Didn't see where someone basically suggested the same thing-sorry

Nothing wrong with having a confirmatory opinion - that's what makes this sort of group diagnosis work! :)

no problems at all with uninstalling the printer all together since it was my universities wireless printing that was installed which i didnt like in the first place lol...

will play with the setting of ppt see if i can make it work...

OK!! what keeps happening when i open a ppt project is it goes straight to the presentation and if i end presentation it closes ppt completely so i dont really have anywhere with settings etc to change things :(

thank you for all the help everyone, sorry i still need more lol

EDIT!! :: ok weird weird weird weird... apparently instead of using ppt for the default browser for ppt presentations instead my system decided to change the default program to ppt "Viewer" so i only get the slide shows...

anyone know how to change back the defaults... i will play around but not positive if i know how

EDIT #2::: HURRAH!!!! figured it out lol...

have i mentioned i HATE vista... i never ever had any problems like this with XP

You should be able to right click on one of the PowerPoint files, select properties. Where it says "Opens with.." select "Change" and look for MS PowerPoint in the list...if it's not there you can browse to the C:\Programs\Microsoft Office\Office12 folder and locate the PowerPnt.exe file. Double click it, and set it to always use that program to open that type of file. That should do the trick.....

Edit: Okay, good...I understand your frustrations. :)
