ok, this is really minor, but it bugs me.
when i am copying files i get the status box, but i always have to click on the 'more information' to see the copy speed. i copy alot of stuff from my portable drives (disk, cards, flash) and like to see the stats. any way to make the 'more info' the default?

Interesting... I've been pressing more information for 2 years. A quick google search didn't have any answers. I'd like to know how to do this or at least why it's not possible.

There is no customization of the copy file dialog. I don't know why, but that's just the way the programmers coded it. If you ask that question at the Microsoft Vista/7 social forums, you might get lucky and have a programmer give you an answer.

To the OP: if you do a lot of copying, you should check out RichCopy. I don't know if it shows all of the data during the copy process (haven't used it yet), but it is supposed to be a great tool if you copy data from drive to drive or over a network.

You can also check TeraCopy which is also a great copying tool and much faster than the built in app.

ok, cheers for looking guys. i dont really want another copy program as windows copy is ALOT better now than XP days and it is always just 'right-click, copy, paste', at least it doesnt just give up on a single file error, so guess i will just click on the more info for now.

TeraCopy can be set up to completely takeover windows copy and you just right-click to copy and to paste, no other actions required, asme as if it was windows.

P.S. It shows the speed in the bar at the top.

Well, I have never noticed that I am always clicking the "More Info" until you just said this, really, it becomes a habit to immediately click more info without even knowing it.......

But yes, I agree with you, wish Microsoft would've given us the chance to change that option by default......

Oh well, not the end of the world...... :p
