i've got a synaptics driver installed for my touchpad, but also have logitech's setpoint 4.6 for my vx revolution mouse.

i mostly use the logitech mouse, but whenever i set the pointer speed under pointer options (in vista control panel), after restarting the computer the mouse speed goes back to the default.

can anyone help me figure out what the fix would be ? should i remove synaptics, setpoint or both ?

In the Logitech SetPoint settings panel, what have you set for the implementation? OS implementation or the other one? Trying changing it.

didn't know that feature was there....i set it to OS implementation, i'll post back after a reboot to list my findings....

    thanks

when i boot up into ubuntu, the mouse is faster, then i boot into windows and it's slower, so it's annoying.

with setpoint software installed, the mouse speed settings will be reset to standard upon reboot. As said earlier in the thread, in your setpoint settings, click the option to let the OS handle the speed of the mouse(s). While the settings will be saved even though you restart, you will have the same speed settings affecting the touchpad and the external mouse. So, you'll have to find the middle-ground setting that works for both the external mouse and the touchpad. Good luck
