The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    msconfig Help

    Any ideas why this happens? (see attached pic)

    I use CCleaner, but it doesn't take these blank entries away?

    This is Windows XP Media Center 2005 Edition SP2, by the way.

    Do you see them in Tools --> Startup ?

    I see one.

    I deleted it, which made one of the blank entries in msconfig dissappear.

    I found it.

    I'm not sure what the first blank entry was, but the second one was AIM.

    In the AIM settings I disabled start-up. I deleted the AIM6 start-up file using CCleaner, checked msconfig, and now the second blank entry is gone.

    I get the same when using CCleaner. But after I restart they go away.
