Using Windows Vista on a new hp dv6000t
It was working fine, but suddenly I can't run any video or music files.
    mp3 and avi, ect.
    I get an error saying,
"Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not not have access to the computer, or your proxy settings might not be correct"

I tried restarting, closing and reopening the file, but this is the same suddenly for all my video and music files. I'm the only user account on this laptop, and I'm not connected to any network, I'm connected to the campus line, but its not a shared network.
I tried other media players suck as realplayer and vlc media player, the picture works, but no sound plays from the file.

I copied the files and tried it on my old laptop, and the files work fine on there.

If things work on VLC then the reason why things aren't working out in other players is because codecs are not properly installed or the program is corrupt.
