    my windows media 11 doesn't have a file types tab

    hi. thanks for reading this. for some reason, in tools > options, there is no file types tab in windows media player 11 for vista for me.

    there is only library, plug-ins, privacy, security, dvd, network, player, rip music, devices, burn, and performance.

    every other version of wmp had it but it's not here. am i searching the wrong place? thanks.

    i was asking because i downloaded gomplayer and even though i have avi and mpg selected, the default player is still windows media player and i figured in the file type menu in windows media player, i can possibly find an option to keep playing specific file types.



    EDIT: apparently file type for media files is now controlled via the default programs in the control panel. i find this a bit backwards and inconvenient. why would windows media 11 for vista decide not to include a built in files association tab?
