I just bought a new notebook, which of course came preloaded with Vista. Well, Vista is not working out for me, crashes and incompatabilities, etc. I have an XP Pro SP1 disk here, so I want to install it on my notebook and see if it works out better for me.
So here's my question. I want to use nLite to slipstream SP3, but do I also have to slipstream SP2 or not, or is SP3 all that I need?
Also, is there anything, any special driver that I need to include for the SATA?

SP3 includes and replaces all preceeding service packs.

OK, thanks!
Any info on weather I need an SATA driver or not added to SP3, or does SP3 already have one that SP2 didn't? -

I thought SP2 had them, so if that is true, then SP3 should as well. But don't take my word for it, I have not installed nor used XP since Spring of 2007.

Yes you will need SATA drivers. I don't know why anyone thinks SP2 has them...
SP2 only affected the Windows environment, not the installation process. SP3 as well.
I faintly remember reading on a Microsoft site that you should install SP2 before SP3. I'm looking for that site right now. Otherwise assume it is fine going straight from SP1 to SP3.
EDIT: Microsoft lists this:
System Requirements
Supported Operating Systems: Windows XP Home Edition ; Windows XP Professional Edition ; Windows XP Service Pack 1; Windows XP Service Pack 2
So since it lists Windows XP Service Pack 1 as one of the system requirements, it appears you can jump straight from SP1 to SP3Last edited by a moderator: Jan 29, 2015 -
if you have a problem w/ SP3 after doing the windows update to upgrade to SP3 then you can easily roll back or uninstall sp3Last edited by a moderator: Jan 29, 2015
