So I wanted to put XP on a dv3, and would get BSOD during boot from disc, narrowed down to lack of particular driver.
Added it to an XP install using nLite but when I go to create a bootable ISO it crashes.
I did not send the error report to M$.![]()
Any ideas???

Just go into bios settings on the dv3 and look to change harddisk setting to legacy, or IDE, or something like that.. Just not SATA, and tehn use original xp cd...

No such option. Not used a laptop yet that did..

I suggest you don't use nLite. Just manually install your OS because at times, Nlite cuts down some windows programmes/applications upon installation during reformat. Yes, it's fast, but when you weigh the consequences, it would be best to resort to the traditional way of reformatting and installing your drivers and applications.

do you want to update your XP install disk to include a complete set of updated device drivers?
If so, nlite isn't the way to go. Although nlite says that it can integrate driver sets a) it was never very good at it, b) hasn't been updated for 2+ years and c) there have always been and continue to be driver packages that nlite just can't deal with.
No fear though. Check out driverpacks.net. Download their base installer **and** a complete set of their update driverpacks. You will need to dump your XP cd/dvd onto a working computer hard drive, run the driverpacks installer/integrator against that clean (UNMODIFIED by YOU or ANYONE!!) source, and then reburn the newly integrated source as a CD/DVD.
Works fine.
I do use nlite but only to pre-set a few system things and to delete the original microsoft-supplied drivers and a few other things. After nlite does it's thing, I then run the driverpacks integrator and then re-create my ISO but NOT burn a DVD.
I always test run the new ISO on virtualbox to make sure things run/install before trying it out on 'real' hardware. Once I am happy with how virtualbox loads and runs my new XP dvd I burn a real disk and test install it on real hardware.
More questions should be directed to the driverpacks.net forums. Beware though that the user base over there are intolerant of noobs who don't bother to read the forum posting rules or don't collect troubleshooting data. This kind of work is not for noobs nor for those who are trying to modify illegally obtained XP images.
nLite crashes every time!
