Hey folks,
I got nTune to work ONCE. It started not overclocking and the sliders would reset to stock position after a month.
Uninstalled nTune to try to reinstall. Lo and Behold, the dang thing is coming up with errors when I try to reinstall. Before, It kept saying "Remove this program?" when I tried to reinstall. Of course, when I would try and say "yes", it would say that the program didnt exist in the computer. Whatever.
I had the same thing happened before, so I followed the steps to fix it. No dice.
Now I have the problem where I try to install and it says that there is already a version of the software in the computer and it must be removed in control panel....blah blah blah.
Guess what doesnt exist in the Remove Programs list? NTUNE.
I'm running Windows Vista 64-bit. I have an Asus G51vx-r...whatever. It's the Worst Buy version.
I also tried to run the fantastic Windows Installer Cleanup. Once again, guess what doesnt show up on the list of programs to cleanup? NTUNE.
I wouldnt be here complaining and begging desperately for a fix if RivaTuner would actually overclock my GPU (which it doesnt, at all, and fails miserably at everything).
Can anyone help me please, I'm desperate!!!!

The last two times I used nTune it either did not work at all, crashed right away, or caused a BSOD.
I've just about given up on using any software from nVidia, except the drivers of course. -
Just download EVGA Precision to OC your Nvidia's GPU.
It's easy and light!
I like nTune because it's official and my Laptop have no problem with it.
Last time, I do have problem but I fixed it. XD -
EVGA precision doesnt work either. My stock clocks are something like 540/1350/799 (Core, Shader, Memory). However, EVGA AND RivaTuner limit me and also don't change anything at all when the settings are applied. When I used nTune, GPU-Z would reflect the changes. No changes I make in EVGA Precision or RivaTuner are reflected ANYWHERE.

I think it's due to a Device which has been disabled.
Try to open your Device Manager and check is there all Hardware has been enabled?
Last time, my Nvidia blah blah got disabled in the Device Manager and caused all these problems. After that, I enabled it. Reinstall everything(drivers and ntune), then, Okay already. -
Checked device manager. Nothing is disabled. I read somewhere just now that EVGA Precision is incompatible with the GTX 260M. I just dont know what to do. The nTune would actually change stuff, and I could see that frequencies were changed. With RivaTuner and EVGA Precision, GPU-Z doesnt budge a digit at all.
I wiped all traces of nTune from this thing and it still says it is installed somewhere. WTH! -
I used an old version (5.x) of nTune. It "Uninstalled" the remaining software. Now everytime I try to install, the dang thing says that it "Cannot apply transform paths".

I had the same problem, Nvidia system tools did not uninstall properly, then I couldn't reinstall it. Ended up using CCleaner tools>uninstall and it worked. Funny that I couldn't uninstall it from programs and features but could with CCleaner.
-
Unfortunately, Nvidia Performance is not on my CCleaner list for programs to uninstall. Am I boned?

Reformat your Laptop please. Then, install the latest Nvidia Driver(186.81) but I like 186.82 which is much more powerful.
Then, install the nTune. Voila.
nTune wont install! DANG!
