I've tried downloading the trial of Purevideo decoder, because honestly, DVDs look like junk on my machine. I don't know why, I guess because the 17" WXGA+ resolution makes the DVD downgrade to a low resolution, so when I go fullscreen, it really looks like crap. I was wondering if anyone notices a big difference watching DVDs using the purevideo decoder. Also, the trial download keeps asking me to put in personal information I don't really wanna enter unless I decide to buy it, including my Credit Card #. So before I jump in and decide to get this, I just wanted to get some opinions on if it's really worth it.

Have you looked into other sofware decoders like PowerDVD and WinDVD? Alot of people use them because they give good quality. The free DVD software that comes with a laptop tends to be strpped down version of the retail program. Mabye thats whats causing your scale up problems?

It came with PowerDVD, but it's v5.7, which I'm sure is why it doesn't have very good picture. But even using WMP it looks bad. I do have Nero 6 because I have an external DVD-RW I got a while ago, but I've yet to install it on this machine. Would that decoder give me better picture? The picture seemed to be better on my old Laptop, but it also had higher resolution on a smaller screen.
