    hey there, i normally could change stuff like moving the screen , making it larger or smaller ,... the feature which did that is called nView.

    Now i have an external 42" tv and i saw nView support different backround on each monitor. But i dont find ANY download link for nView.. and the newest driver (195.62) and also my currently installed one (186.81) says: nView is not included in Geforce drivers. It seems like the last driver with nView was back in 2006.

    Any idea?

    thanks

    @edit: oh and i´m on win7 x64

    nView became a Quadro only feature on PCs running Vista or newer. GeForce GPUs are no longer supported.

    There should be an nVidia Control Panel in the Windows Control Panel that would allow you to do that sort of thing.

    hm so since nview doesnt exist anymore, how can i make my laptop screen fit onto my plasma tv?

    i have win7 prof x64 and my laptop supports a resoltuion of 1680x1050. I use "extend" option when connecting my plasma and have a resolution of 1920x1080 on my plasma. The desktop on my plasma is oversized. So if i maximize a window, the close/minimize/maximize buttons will only be displayed half. Also the left side of the window is too big.

    The nvidia driver has something to resize the desktop on the external monitor. BUT:
    You can only change the width and the height but you cannot move the window itself to the left or right or only make the left side smaller or bigger.

    This means: The right side perfectly fits but the left side is too big OR the left side fits and the right side is too small.

    With nview you could say that you want to move the whole desktop inside the tv or only change on side and leave the rest as it is. Thats what i would need. Or a fix to have my desktop fitted onto the plasma (which it actually should be.. i dont know why it isnt).

    Thanks

    I know just what you are talking about. I had similar issues when connecting my laptop via HDMI. It seems overscan is a common problem for PC using HDMI. I am rather surprised that the nVidia control panel does not offer something that allows you to adjust the position of the screen on the display. I will have to check my control panel next time I connect via HDMI and see if it id the same way. But what I did anyway was mess with the setting on the HDTV rather than the computer. My HDTV had a "PC" mode for the HDMI that fixed most of my overscan problems. It also had a feature that let you position the screen. That would be my suggestion, try HDTV's settings and see if they offer anything helpful.

    nView is definitely supported on Geforce GPUs. With my GT230m I can set up multiple displays. It even says nView in nVidia control panel, on the subheading "Set up Multiple Displays"

    It indeed does allow you to change the position of the HDMI signal on your HDTV. When using HDMI there will be a setting in nVidia control panel. Off the top of my head I don't remember it but it is near the bottom of the left column.
    I, myself, just did this a couple days ago with my GT230m

    Maybe it does. I was just quoting the disclaimer on nVidia's website.

    I see what you were saying about there being no positioning tool in the nVidia control panel. While it is labeled "size and position" the only option is to adjust the size. Very strange indeed. I am wondering if this is just the HDMI. I might have to try using the VGA later and see it offers positioning.
