ok so i am writing a really comprehensive ebook atm. i want to sell it but how do i make it so people can't duplicate the ebook? for example if i sell it to some dude, then he would be able to transfer it to his friend's laptop via usb stick or he would be able press ctrl+c to copy it somewhere else on his computer. how can i stop this so that once i give him that ebook, he can't duplicate it or transfer it via usb?

You can not stop someone from copying the file and sharing it. You can set up rights management in Acrobat so that the text in the PDF can not be copied or printed. There are always ways around this however.

You can put a water mark or footer in the pdf that has the buyer's name and secure the file against editing, printing, or copying. The buyer will be less likely to share the file if s/he knows it may find its way to the internet with his/her name on it.
