    i need to know were i can download a recovery cd for windows xp MCE. The computer give that blue screen of death, there is a critical error, but if flashes to fast for me to see what it is.

    Can you get into Safe Mode? Yes -> turn off automatic restart from System/Advanced settings.

    Follow qhn's advice; other than that, I don't believe you can download those disks (at least not legally), so you'll probably have to buy a copy from your OEM.

    yeah i can get in to safe mode but what do i do there? i have updated all the drivers, scanned for bugs...i can not update windows as well. this laptop is not even mine it is a friend's, old a dirt but no money to replace it so yeah they are stuck with it is it an Acer Aspire 3682WXMi

    So can you go to Control Panel/System/Advanced/Start Up and Recovery -> un-check the "automatic restart" option. This way we can collect some more info regarding the BSOD code and message.

    Thanks for the help but, see as how old it is and that it has lots and lots of viruses and the fact that all they need is web and word i am going to put Linux (Ubuntu).
