    he guys

im very new with this new OS windows 7 (2days) and im trying to run a program called "Stardock my colors" when i click on the icon i get a pop up message saying...

"my colors requires administrator privileges in order to change your theme"
"please grant this account administrator privileges and try launching my colors again".

now then as far as im aware Ive done that and still get the same message, there is only one user on the pc and i have admin rights.....so if anyone have any ideas what i can do to run this program id be greatly thankful.

in fact how to stop this happening full stop with all programs would be even more helpful...

    thanks in advance.

Can you run the program as an Administrator? Or have you already tried that?

I think this is what you are running into - something called "user account control" which you should leave ON and NEVER EVER switch off - ideally set it to the highest level too.
(There might be an exception when you need to diagnose something and would like it off, but always keep it on, it protects the system)

To run a program as an admin - right click and select "run as administrator"

Might be worth a screenshot... the problem is I don't use any docks - so I'm thinking generically.
And confirm that your account type is administrator and not just "user" - but it should be as you mentioned earlier.

I beg to differ on that one. I find that UAC is nothing but a pain in the ***. Ever since I disabled it prior to installing Sandbox 2, I actually found a much nicer system waiting for me afterwards. And to top it off, I have NEVER had a problem since.

Just my $0.02. Please don't feel that I have hijacked the thread, lol.

Well, just so the OP knows what it does:
At it's most basic it will prompt you every time anything wants to access system files - i.e. protects system files.
It also virtualizes the registry if a program needs registry needs access to it - same goes for system files - they are virtualized.

It should not pop up during normal use - on that note - I've been converted to using it and it's no issue at all.
