    Hello all,

I just upgraded to windows 7 professional, and I'm really liking it. I've got a small problem. My laptop is mine not a domain terminal; therefore, it lives in a work group, but I'm trying to map drives to my computer that live on a domain. Please note I am directly connected to this network domain over lan. So my procedure goes like this:

I click map network drive under my computer
I fill in the server information and drive letter
I check connect using different credentials (I give my domain network credentials)
It then fails to map the drive.

The problem is windows 7 automatically sets my domain name to the name of the local machine (I can see this under my domain credentials). I need it set to that of the domain's. There is no field where I can change this.

I don't want to change my machine to a domain machine under system properties, because again it's my personal machine.

The only options I see at this point are to:
    a) try and map it using command line
    b) go in over the vpn and try (won't solve the problem when I'm physically connected)

    Thanks for any advice guys
    Cheers!

I figured it out. I was being foolish. In the user field you must enter:
(domain)\(username). I completely forgot about this. You also had to do this in vista. Please lock/remove thread.
