When it comes to sound driver, I stand with what Toshiba has on their driver section. Othervise, I loose Max Bass option for my X300, and it sounds like my ThinkPad

Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith
Holy crap, I just updated from 2.36 to 2.38 last night.... now 2.39 today? I give up lol.
-
-
LOL. I am so pathetic, because I am still using Realtek 2.37.
I just download Realtek 2.38 this morning, and now, the Realtek 2.39 released. LOL. -
Changelog:
-
just downloaded 2.39, and wondering:
in the customization, do you guys select "full range speakers" or deselect it? -
-
so what do you guys think of the new drivers?
crap?
keepers? -
Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith
I honestly can never tell the difference between them.
-
Nor can I. I don't bother updating them anymore, though I still experience audio problems in Crysis.
-
Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith
lol, up to 2.40

Are there substantial improvements to each version, or are they just incremental? If they're incremental, I'm not sure why they would bother to release new drivers every time they make a change.
-
I have no clue. The only thing I know is that; If I use another version then Toshiba have on their driver section, my Max Bass option dispears. If so, my X300 sounds like my ThinkPad

The download site had a PDF with a changelog the last time I checked. No, they don't rewrite the entire driver every two weeks.

ScifiMike12 Drinking the good stuff
Well the programmers are lazy and don't put up the exact changes but it can't hurt to update to the latest one.
Heck it takes me less than 2 minutes to uninstall, reboot, run a driver cleaner in safe mode, reboot, and install the driver. -
i glad they do update there drivers
there are a lot of companys that never do -
-
but poorly written drivers can serioulsy mess up your system.
its just wierd that they cant provide a meaningful changelog and many people are actually reluctant to upgrade their realtek drivers for fear it may mess something up .
i think their product is good though with the right software to back it up.
realtek has a virtual stranglehold on the notebook audio market but they provide lousy support. man this taiwanese company is making a killing but they dont care about the end-user me thinks. all they care about is their primary customers- the notebook manufacturers.
so i guess the best thing to do is contact support from your manufacturers cause i dont think were getting any help from realtek -
