hi. i want to stay up to date on what's happening in the world, technology and music and have recently been collecting a list of RSS feeds. i use Google's web clips function so feeds show up on top of my email screen, but was thinking it would be cool to have a dedicated non-browser-based news reader. there are tons out there - what do you suggest?

Do you want online RSS readers or offline ones? I hear Sharpreader is great - I haven't used it myself, but if you do end up using it, let us know how well it suits your needs and some pros/cons if you can.

For online reader, I guess it's Google Reader.

Edit: You might also want to check out FeedDemon

I'd also have to go with Amol-FeedDemon is really, really, good. It has more powerful features than SharpReader, not to say that SharpReader isn't good and all.

i'm using Google Desktop so i'd rather avoid adding Yahoo's version of it or AveDesk. unfortunately i haven't an RSS viewing gadget to my liking as of yet.

i'll check the other suggestion out - thanks!

UPDATE: It looks like the Sage add-on to Firefox is DOA for Firefox V3, so I've begun looking into replacements (again). At this point, it appears that I may go back to either FeedReader or RSSOwl, both of which I have used before.

UPDATE #2: I tried both and decided to use FeedReader for now.

UPDATE #3: I decided to switch to FeedGhost.

Seems like this is a better location than that was.

And I'm trying out FeedGhost now, too.

After trying a number of them (again) I have left FeedGhost installed. It is pretty slick! Thanks for the suggestion.
