Nope. I don't think so. Does feel annoying at times though. That's why I'm using JKDefrag and Auslogics Defrag :D

Vista's defrag is about as good as XP's. If you want what we use in the IT community, go here: Diskeeper

Unlike Vista's utility and others, Diskeeper will also defrag your MFT's, which can't be done by a Windows defragger since it has to be performed prior to Windows load. The 2009 version has a new thing they call "Invisitasking" which essentially is a fancy term that describes their new process - Diskeeper now runs a scheduled defrag as a background process. It's uses so little resources and has no effect on system operation. If you didn't check your logs you wouldn't even know it was running.

Or, if you want a useless defrag utility, stay with the MS one.

Vista's defrag is designed so that you can use the computer while it's running. So you don't have to sit and watch it.

Also, by default it's scheduled to run automatically once a week.

So you really don't need to think about defrag anymore.

But yeah, there's no colorful animation like with XP. Boo hoo. I admit I would have liked some sort of progress indicator though. But since I just let it run on schedule and don't sit and watch it anyway, it doesn't really matter that much to me.
