    Hi,
I've been using firefox for quite some time now (and i'de recommend it to ANYONE who still uses IE!!) and i have a little problem.....when i "compose" mail on my Yahoo or Gmail (which ide also strongly recommend) account i can't copy/paste...to be more specific i can copy but cant paste...it seems to work fine with everything else i've tryed (including NBR) and IE lets me paste so i'm guessing it's a firefox issue.....any suggestions?

    Thanks.

I've had the same problem. As it is, the only way to paste somthing in Yahoo or G-mail using Firefox, is to use the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl + v). Hope that helps...

I never noticed that before! I always use shortcuts :D

I think the reason behind it is that both Gmail and Yahoo mail are scripts, rather than simple html. If you use Gmail in standard html mode I think you'll get back normal functionality (to switch to standard html mode, scroll all the way to the bottom of your inbox, and you will see it in the center).

Another side effect of the scripts is that you cannot middle click on emails to open them in new tabs.

Well we learned something new today. I say that every windows user should know ctrl+x, ctrl+c and ctrl+v. These shortcuts are the most commonly used in everyday computer life. Everything just goes faster.

Unfortunately firefox seems to have issues with them sometimes, for example, I can select the URL of a page frm the address bar, hit Ctrl+C and it does nothing...

    Got to love windows inconsistencies.

I had the same problem before but as I figured out, as qwester has already pointed out it was because gmail uses scripts for formatting when it switched to using its own formatting turned on by default, to fix the problem I just revert back to good old fashioned html.

As far as copy or paste problems in the address bar. . . I haven't ran into that. Works fine on mine. I also have the "paste and go" extension. Works great. When you copy an address from somewhere, you can go to the address bar and rt. click and select paste and go. Just a step saver.

Am I missing something here? Ctrl + C will copy the address (in this case) not cut it, so yeah, you won't see anything happen to the original address. You can however paste the copy into a new tab/window.

    Ctrl + X = cut
    Ctrl + C = copy
    Ctrl + V = paste
    Ctrl + Z = undo
    Ctrl + Y = redo
    Ctrl + A = select all

these all work in firefox for me

    what version are you using?

    Arla, it's not a windows inconsistency, it's a freeware/open source inconsistency
