i cant play dvds, i have downloaded divx codec and it still doesnt work in windows media player or interactual. you should know that i have recently downgraded to xp. when i try to play it in windows media it get this:

Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. You might need to adjust your Windows display settings. Open display settings in Control Panel, and then try lowering your screen resolution and color quality settings.

XP doesn't come with with built-in DVD playback (Vista does). You need DVD player software, or the DVD codec.

DivX has nothing to do with DVD's. DivX is a mpeg4 variant, and DVD uses mpeg2. Anyway, you'll need to get a software DVD player. VLC has already been suggested as a free alternative.
