While playing games on my computer after a whitle the screen becomes black and the game stops for +/- 15 seconds.
Windows tells me : Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding, but has succesfully recovered.
After that I can go on and play the game until the same problem happens again.
I have 8600m GT, other specs in sig.
I reinstalled vista about a week ago, so I still have stock driver installed. I previously had 160.39 installed and I had the same problem.

Any suggestions?

Update your graphics drivers? I used to get those alot but then one day it just disappears

Two potential places for getting graphics driver updates are Microsoft (not Windows) Update, and the nVidia website.

paper_wastage Beat this 7x7x7 Cube
and laptopvideo2go if you are adventurous

There are 113 pages on this exact same error on the nVidia forum:
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=25381
I'd start looking there. -

I would also check the temperatures on your card. GPU-Z will help with that, turn up the fan speed if necessary
