I will soon be receiving a new harddrive for my laptop and I've already installed office 2007 twice on this computer (first install, then a reinstall of the os, and then the second install).

I was just wondering how office verifies it ihas been installed on 3 different computers.

Is it 3 different installations? Does it recognize your IP or harddrive or is it something in your bios?

I would also like to ask if, when upgrading to 64bit os, it just upgrades or it is complete reinstall of your os?

    Thanks for answering.

I don't know about your second question, but I can surely answer the first. It checks whether the key is valid. No other information is used to verify. You can install it on as many computers you would like (but not legally).

I had a period where I went through a computer a month for about a year, on an old computer(as the old one are deal I was legal as it was simple transferring the licence)... well every time I installed it complained about activations, so I would call MS, and they would remotely activate it. after a while it just started activating with out calling.

what I am saying is just call MS if there is an activation issue.

64-bit: you cannot "upgrade" to 64-bit. You must do a clean install. It will not carry over the programs and settings like other "upgrades" will.
