this thing crashed more times a day than any other software i have ever used in my life. i have 0 issues with the same web pages that cause the crashes from opera and ie7. thing is a really dont like either of those. opera is okay but just is imo a pian to use and always asks to many questions and to me gets a bit annoying.

so who uses safari? the interface looks VERY similar to ff3 and seems to have most of its features. any thoughts or any issues or problems with it?? how stable is it and how well does it do with all major web pages??

Safari works pretty well for me. I've used it two months now and had little trouble. There was one point that it was having trouble loading up threads with dozens of youtube clips, but that problem seemed to resolved itself. Give it a shot I think you'll like it :) .

I still like it but it doesn't load the full text editors really at all for most forums. It also just seems to lack........substance for me such as the one FF3 posesses.

Safari is great, my main problem with it is that vBulletin doesn't let it use javascript menus, which is a bit of a pain.

just 1 humble suggestion .....why not go back to the regular firefox 2????

i went back from ff3 to 2 becuase of the fact that in ff2 with avg wheni did a google search, it would display if it was safe to visit the page or not. ff3 wont so i switched to ff2 again from 3.......just a thot??

i dont know but i can say its not just me i hear about the issues with firefox all over the place. and not just on my system either.

hmm so safari cant display forums right man i can win.. and to the person who suggested a reinstall ive done that over and over and over etc... it doesnt help. verizon.net and yahoo for example just either crash it or make is "shutdown" due to unexpected error.. the error log in ff3 is a mile long

Have you tried upping the cache from 50MB(default) to 70MB? It helped with FF3 crashing on me. My only problem is FF slows down intermittently. :p

You can install McAfee SiteAdvisor for FF3 as well.

I have had zero issues with firefox 3 on the system in my sig. Even going to the sites described above. It is always interesting to see how many issues pop up with new software.

Not one crash or performance issue with FF3 on my old or new PC, but I just plain dont like it. The new system for how it looks up past viewed sites when you type in the address bar sucks, usually I can type not or desk and at that point it already has notebookreview or desktop review highlighted for me and ready to enter in FF2, but FF3 half the time it tries to take me to the desktop seciton of NBR first or something, plus its all big and clunky and harder to read at a glance. I think I will go back to FF2.

. how about giving us a chance to understand what u meant by crashes? windows frozen up on u? cpu spiking? ...maybe then we can all chip in with pointers
. u meant some sites with issues, could you share them? and could u expand what exactly the issues that u were having?
. a re.install has already being recommended, i would add for 1st round is to update ur java engine and flash plugin as well.

regarding Safari, u hear this and that ... i suggest that u give it a shot urself, latest 3.1.2 is not bad, i use (test) it 20% of my browsing time, i enjoy it.

    cheers ...

FF3 has never crashed on me. Not once. It has run like a champ.

Try getting used to Opera, it's worth it, it's a great browser.

I did not like Safari - but really like IE7 and am looking forward to IE8. But then again, Microsoft is a very good customer right now so I feel obligated to use their sw! :)

Zfactor, I'm sorry to hear that you're having such a hard time with FF3. I've never used Safari, but I've heard more bad things about them than I've heard about FF2 and FF3 . . . combined. That's not to say it's not a good browser (like I said, I've never personally used it), but I'm guessing there must be come credence to what I've heard.

Try every browser you can lay your mitts on, and then put them through tests on your machine with your specific browsing habits. Honestly that is the best way to determine if a browser is yours.

I find Opera to be the best for how I surf.

I switched to safari about a month ago and it has been faster than any other browser ive used. Ive had no problems at all since v3.1.2 (Fixed Problem when safari shows box/? mark when it can display something). Its given me better speed on a Core 2 T9300, a Pentium 4, a Celeron, and a T5250. So its clearly just a better browser than FF and IE. It doesnt have the compatability issues with webpages that FF does, since most websites are written for Safari and IE, because of Safari being on OSX. It has a nice sleek look to it and some extra features FF doesnt have. Of course there is no themes, but its worth it. I would highly reccromend it to you and everyone.

almost everyone is telling me though its a memory hog and even though its fast its not nearly as "light" on the system as firefix is.. they say you can feel the impact of safari

This is my only tab open and FF3 is using 65k-70k or mem is that a lot? If I recall FF2 used about the same for me.

Zfactor, have you tried disabling the virtual keyboard dll in KIS/KAV?
Check post 16 in this Kaspersky thread; link.
The coming "C"-fix should be the answer for this problem.
(Or maybe installing the new Firefox 3.01; link).
    Cheers.

The problem I had with FF3, is when I was typing in a URL, it would display all of the sites I went to.

    Clearing the history did nothing.

Ive felt no impact at all. The only speed difference in my pc is the web loading faster. Nothing has slowed down. I also have 4GB (3.5GB) of memory. But even on a computer with 512MB, safari was alot faster than FF.
