if you just try shrink disk partion you can use built in diskmangement will let you small changes

    shrink and resize volume

    1. vista now has built-in partition support. you don't need any 3rd party app.

    2. partition magic works perfectly, so if you're getting an error, it's mostly likely something you are doing wrong.

Partition Magic 8 works within Vista if you run it in "XP Service Pack 2" compatibility mode. Then when you start the program, you will get a popup window saying something to the effect that "this software has known compatibility issues". There is a checkbox in the lower left corner of the popup window that says "Don't remind me again". Click the box and hit ok.

It will work from that point forward, although my Vista partition shows up with a volume label with a bunch of question marks within Partition Magic. The partition shows as good though.

Are you saying Partition Magic will work on the C: partition while running on Vista? That would scare the bejezus out of me. Repartitioning the running OS is a scary prospect. Call me old fashioned, but I always prefer to run any partitioning software OUTSIDE the OS. I always use some bootable CD for any partitioning work involving the OS partition. But I guess since Vista itself is capable of modifying it's own C: partition, that third party apps can too. But that just seems "unnatural" ...big ol' grin...
