    hi, i have an WD 320 GB Passport USB HDD with me..plz specify how i could lock it using a pasword.plz tell any softwares tha can be used for this.plz..........

    It's free and easy to use. There's even a tutorial on the website to teach you how to use it for the first time.

    A simple way would be making your external as a single folder and password it using Windows utility.

    truecrypt is the best way to go! It is fast and extremely secure so that if you were to ever misplace your drive, your data would be untouchable! Its on the fly encryption also... which I think gives it a real speed boost!
